Printer Summary:
In the high school, the color printers (HP2600s) will be removed, and new Rihco printers will replace them. They are in the front office and in the teacher work room on the first floor.
In the middle school, the Lexmark C510s will be removed and will be replaced as above. In the JHS art room (located in the middle school) the HP 2600 will be replaced in the same way.
In the elementary school, the Lexmark C510 printers in the teachers work room and in the computer classroom will be replaced as above. Any B&W printer that was near a photocopier will be moved.
Copier Summary:
Everywhere there is a copier now, it will be replaced with a new Kyocera model. The new copiers will also print black and white, and we need your help to drive as much printing to these new copiers as you can. This is because they get .004 per page, which is a major savings over the other printers. Most of the B&W printers will stay, but not those that are located near photocopiers. Those will be used to replace the aging smaller B&W printers at other locations.
Wiring needed for new photcopiers:
Wiring basics We have a FLUKE cable tester which is fun to use and will certify the runs. We have some 5e cable and 25 or so 5e jacks. If electricians do it, they need to punch to the newer patch panels (5e or 6.)
JES
Teachers work room Ideal: install a pole for 110 and data in the room between the two copiers Make 4 new data runs, two to the pole and two to the wall box. (use Cat5E or 6. There is some space on the patch panel in the closet to punch down the wire. Must use the newer patch panel (5e or 6) Good enough: Run 4 wires to a new plate (4 or 6 gang) on the wall box and use patch cables up and over to the new copiers.
JMS
JHS Front office is OK. Teacher work room first floor is OK. Second floor needs two cable drops in the teachers work room, in the back (near the copier.) Second floor also needs four new drops as designated by Scot/Randy for the new Apple WAPs. These second floor drops can be terminated in the wall box in the second floor business lab. (There is one panel left w'8-10 slots.) Guidance needs one drop over by the copier. Guidance should have two drops pulled at the same time to replace the wall box closest to Lynn. (That mess should be cleaned up.)
Finished/not finished 2008-09
Ordering: Apple Airports (need four) Randy
JMS wiring closet(clean up the mess.)
Replace key JHS WAPs on the second floor with new Apple Gig ones
Design a plan for locations for 9th grade laptops (in leu of home rooms? ...where do they charge up during lunch?)
Design a plan for rolling out three carts of HP laptops and not having wily/nilly student checkout.
Move all older IBooks back to JMS from JES
Camera locations (walk through with principals, locate all gaps and the full desired coverage. Plan in stages.)
*
Purchase:
New batteries for HPlaptops (60?)
New cameras for surveillance
New Apple wireless access points.

1. Image creation of JSD Computers -- To be done by Norm as soon as they are in
2. Deployment of JSD Computers -- To be done by Norm as soon as they are in
4. Fix library link Scott
5. Establish trunking with the new unit in the JHS closet (4 GBic ports - 4 GBic ports) for a 4Mb trunk connection to the server room. These are installed. Trunk configuration yet to be done.Ports now active and ready for wire run (2007-07-09) --Done by Scott
6.The Cisco 4503 is underutilized. I will research a line card for it, which would aggregate the JMS closet, which we all agree is a mess. We need to schedule another project like the very successful JHS server room project. Re-cable everything, take weight off cables, get each switch aggregating upward to the new card on the 4503, eliminate the hp switch.) This card has arrived and is in the JMS closet. It needs to be installed and configured, even if the closet is not redone this summer. I believe they are hot swappable, and we will be pulling some new drops in JMS for the new copier/printers (and new WAPs for the first floor at JMS.) -- Scott
7. Get full documentation of Sentry's function, and the NAT architecture. You will need this if we change IP providers, which is a real possibility. --Done by Scott
8. Fix Windows Domain Server --Done by Scott
9. Backup servers --Done by Scott

Fall 2008
1. Establish connection with smartnet for Cisco download, and upgrade all the firmware on the Cisco equipment. This includes the 2950's etc. but also the new unit, because it may need it (may have been on a shelf too long before it was purchased. This is an important step that does not require additional licensing, but must be done after 4PM because it blips the connection. (Cisco is saying it doesn't, but...) This is a first priority LAN issue, because it may affect what Darren has been trying to do.) (While on-line, also download the Cisco Management software.) Please feel free to communicate with Darren on the work, and to get the Smartnet #s, login, etc if you don't have it.
3. VLANs assist with traffic management at a fairly high level, so they are important beyond security issues. I am OK with the current VLAN architecture, but would like to have one additional VLAN for the WAPs.
5. AV plan for each building (Joe, Carol, Randy, principals, check-in w' Sue)
6. Update inventory district-wide, with formal report (Scott, Norman, Randy) Lets work with each school's librarian and utilize brady for this endeavor_SCM
